Undoubtedly, music rejoices the spirit, satisfies the soul and motivates the most sublime emotions; however how can we define it?. The word music derives from the Greek term «mousike» which refers to educating the spirit under the inspiration of the muses of the arts.
It is also said that music is «the art that consists in giving to the sounds and the silences of a certain harmony that pleases to the ear». Nothing more logical!
In 1963, the piano that we have today at Casa San Blas Boutique arrived in Cusco from Arequipa, the White City, with the Rodríguez family.
Soon the piano was acquired by the Milla-Vidal family, who were tempted to acquire a piano instead of a vehicle in order to offer musical education to their children.
At that time, under the mentorship of Mrs. Ivonne Yabar, Mercedes Zambrano and Gloria Simons, all of them recognized Cusquenian ladies, at least two of the daughters received piano lessons for several years.
Upon arriving at Casa San Blas Boutique, the piano was placed in the lobby, evoking the kind spirit of Mama Delia Vidal de Milla, an educator and poetry lover, who used to organize cultural afternoons surrounded by her twelve grandchildren reciting poems from César Vallejo, José Santos Chocano, Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral, among others; often accompanied by some piano melodies.
At Casa San Blas Boutique, hotel in Cusco, we have been fortunate to have guests who are encouraged to play the piano to delight the other guests with melodies from the simplest, to those that require a lot of skills, as it is shared with family.
